"Celebrate Our Parks With Gabriola Land and Trails Trust (GaLTT)"

"707" WILDERNESS RECREATION AREA 10 – 11:30am

Enjoy a walk in Gabriola’s newest park area with GaLTT volunteers. The original old logging roads and trails are rough, rutted and wet, so wear suitable footwear!

Park at end of Fisher Road.
 

ISLANDS TRUST FUND NATURE RESERVE 10:00 – 11:00am

Enjoy a walk through mature forest with GaLTT volunteers, and return via North Rd to Windecker. The original old logging roads and trails are rough and can be very wet. Wear suitable footwear.

Park at the end of Windecker Rd (off Seawind Rd).
 

DRUMBEG PROVINCIAL PARK 11:30am – 2:30pm

11:30 – 12:30   Bring your picnic lunch and eat by the water. GaLTT information and membership table. Sales of GaLTT logo T-shirts, water bottles.

1:30 – 2:30   Bird-watching with Larry Holbrook

12:30 – 2:30   Broom eradication work party
(Please come and help with this ongoing and very worthwhile project!)

Park at lot by the water. Overflow parking on Stalker Road outside of Park entrance.
 

DESCANSO BAY REGIONAL PARK 1:30 – 6pm

1:30 – ongoing   GaLTT information/membership table, sales of logo t-shirts and water bottles.

1:30 – 3:00   Guided walks with GaLTT volunteers on the trails in Descanso Bay Regional Park and in Cox Community Park (about 6 km).

3:00 – 4:00   Guided geology walk with Nick Doe. Learn about the park’s rock formations.

3:00 – 5:00   Children’s activities in the Day Use area.

5:00   Bring a potluck dish for a group dinner at picnic tables by the water.

Park in Day Use area. Overflow parking on McConvey Road.
