Memorial benches

GaLTT recently developed a pilot project to install and maintain funded memorial benches. Our volunteers installed GaLTT’s first memorial bench at the public shore access just north of Drumbeg Park with its beautiful view of Breakwater and Saturnina Islands.

The bench (shown above with the builder and installation crew) was purchased by his family to lovingly honour the memory of Captain James R. Ewart, MM, who is named on the metal plaque. This bench was designed and built by Dave Neads, a member of the Gabriola Woodworkers Guild. He used live-edge maple that had been donated by Linda Harrison in memory of her husband Konrad Mauch. We thank the Ewart family and Linda for choosing to memorialize their loved ones in a way that enhances public enjoyment of this lovely area.

Please consider memorializing your loved ones in this way. To enquire about sponsoring a memorial bench please contact us at info@galtt.ca
