Hike the length of Gabriola (approximately 17 km) on GaLTT’s annual ‘end to end’ walk. Sunday, September 11, meet at Descanso Campground on Taylor Bay road for 10 am departure. Bring a picnic lunch, water and comfortable shoes for this 6ish hour hike through the forests of our island, ending at Page’s Resort and Marina at the end of Coast Road. Buy a drink or ice cream at the marina store and revel in the satisfaction of having walked the length of our island home. Catch Gertie back to your car. We are walking rain or shine! Schedule (approximate, note that if it is raining rest stops may be shorter):
- 10:00 am: depart Descanso Campground
- 12:00: join the walk at the end of Jeanette. If it is not raining our picnic lunch will run from 11:45 to 12:15.
- 2:15: join the walk at the rest stop at the end of Dorby (Nelder’s Pond). Note that if it is raining there will may not be much of a rest stop here.
- 3:45 (approximately): Arrive Page’s Marina
Gertie will be available from 4 to 6 to shuttle people to their cars or will drop off along North and South road. BRING CASH FOR GERTIE!
