Holiday season favourites like ivy may be popular in carols and on Christmas cards, but as non-native species they pose a threat to our natural ecosystems. When ivy grows up trees it can eventually kill them and as it spreads across the ground it smothers other vegetation. This work party is an opportunity to learn best practices for removing and controlling this plant—join us to help tackle ivy on a community trail in the Whalebone area!
Meet: on Tashtego Crescent. (Park at the west end, opposite Pequod Crescent).
Bring: gloves and hand pruners, if you can. We will provide hori-hori knives and loppers as needed.
