Don’t live here full time? You can still have an impact on GaLTT!
Carol Chislett likes theme vacations and in 1995, finding light houses was the mission. When she got off the ferry to find the view of Entrance Island, she took a wrong turn and ended up in Drumbeg Provincial Park. She felt an instant connection to this place and has come almost every summer since, finding spots to stay all over the island.
As an avid walker with the Wednesday Walking group that has been operating for decades, she came to love the trails. When GaLTT began in 2004, she liked the work we did and quickly became a member. After all these years, she continues to support GaLTT through her membership dues, attends many events (her favourite was a geology talk and beach walk with Nick Doe) and volunteers at the GaLTT table at the summer market where she shares her knowledge of the trails and the Nature Stewards program, which is similar to the Backyard Habitat program in Oregon. She especially appreciates the invasive removal and restoration as she sees Scotch broom taking over where she lives full time. Her love of nature leads her to volunteer at the Bird Alliance of Oregon nature store in Portland, where she has lived all of her adult life.
GaLTT salutes Carol for her dedicated support—we appreciate all of the Gabriola part timers who have become members. Thank you so much!
